Health Care Plans
Below you will see the various types of plans in which you may enroll. These plans include exchange plans (otherwise known as "Obamacare" plans, plans to eliminate deductibles and cover non-approved treatments such as chiropractic and acupuncture and short term plans designed to cover a gap in coverage. Of course, you can always use off-exchange plans and obtain coverage directly from an insurance carrier but you will not receive the Obamacare subsidy.
Medical Exchange Plans
In response to the need for advocates, American Health Advocates, Corp. ® can enroll members in Obamacare exchange plans nationwide if you need assistance. Please call or email.
However, let's focus on the Covered California exchange, which remains one of the best conceived and well-run exchanges in the country. Plans on the Covered California exchanges are determined by county and you can see the available plans below.
These health insurance companies meet all the state and federal requirements for plans as well as additional standards established by Covered California. They represent a mix of major insurers and smaller companies, regional and statewide doctor and hospital networks, and for-profit and nonprofit plans. These are just plans available on the exchange and, again, vary by county. Plans off of the exchange (below) can be slightly different and offer various deductibles and co-pays.
People with limited incomes and certain disabilities may be eligible for Medicaid (or Medi-Cal) under Obamacare. For information about these programs, please check out the "Low-Cost / No-Cost" plans link above.
You can only enroll in both Obamacare plans and plans off of the exchange during open enrollment which occurs this year from November 1st through January 31st (in California[ other states may vary). However, certain events will trigger a special enrollment period. Often, it can be as little as moving across the street. Learn more about those special enrollment periods by clicking here.

Short Term Plans
The bad news? You just graduated from college and you lost that college health care plan. The good news? You got that dream job but the coverage doesn't start for a month. Well, you're not going to face a penalty because it's only a month and it's a lot of trouble to get coverage for just a month. You might as well go without coverage, right?
Things happen when you don't have coverage. A good short term plan with a deductible as low as $100 can cover medications, emergencies and the unexpected doctor visit for up to three months.
Insured by the Lloyd's of London group, this is the plan with the lowest deductibles and is part of the First Health Network. See if your doctor is part of this network by visiting here.

Life Insurance, Annuities and Long Term Care Insurance
Most of don't want to think about life insurance. But if you have children or parents, then you have to think about what would happen if suddenly you were not here.
Who would pay all the leftover bills? How would your children go to college, stay in their home and continue to enjoy what you have worked so hard to provide? Do you really want to pass that burden along to people you love? What can happen to all of your assets if you have to stay in a nursing home for months?
Moreover, life insurance and annuities can help you prepare for a college student's financial aid as well as your own future. We can help prepare you for that.
Some things to think about:
Who are you protecting and for how long? Whether it's providing for the kids until they become adults or paying off the mortgage, a term policy can be good and inexpensive way to accomplish this.
Buy when you're young and your health is good. You can often get as much as $500,000 for very little when you're under thirty. Planning for kids, a home and life pass your college days is tricky but it can really save you dollars in the long run.
Decide what the policy is supposed to do. Are you planning for retirement (accumulating money), planning to borrow for college later or transferring assets to your children (spending money), we'll help to figure out what plan is the best.
Time for a timely review? When's the last time you checked to make sure you had enough coverage? Has your life changed in the past ten years? Then, your life insurance needs should change.
Just as with health care plans, all of the major providers for life insurance and long term care plans are here. In this economy, there are affordable choices with such carriers as:
Prescription, Short-Term, Travel and Other Plans
Prescription Drug Plans
Many patients have a health care plan just for the prescription coverage. While we do not condone this practice, we understand the necessity. But we can help find just the right coverage you need with our separate plans. The right prescription or short-term plan can bridge a gap in employment or a transition to a state or federally sponsored plan. We also have assistance for those cannot afford their medication.
Sometimes you just a plan to bridge recent college graduation, an internship, a period of unemployment or the transition to Medicare. While it is often not as robust, a short-term plan can be just the right choice!
Travel Health Insurance
Most major medical insurance plans will cover you the first thirty days outside of the country. However, with out of network coverage, you are often limited to $650 maximum per day. In a car accident, that is not nearly enough. An international travel plan can provide for emergency air transport and additional costs once you return to the States. Don't be caught unaware!
Prescriptions are often the most important component to any health care plan. But, sometimes people feel that prescriptions are all that they need. While there are very few true prescriptions plans that offer co-pays and the like, here are some options to explore:
A hassle-free prescription drug card program with no health questions to answer and no pre-existing limitations.
Bridges to Access
GlaxoSmithKline's patient assistance program for non-oncology medicines provides GSK prescriptions to eligible low-income patients without prescription drug benefits. Please call us for more information.
This program brings together America's pharmaceutical companies, doctors, other health care providers, patient advocacy organizations and community groups to help qualifying patients who lack prescription coverage get the medicines they need through the public or private program that's right for them. Many will get them free or nearly free.
Again, there are new plans coming in and out of the market as well as plans for those who cannot afford their medications. If you cannot afford your medication, we can help. Do not hesitate to call.
